Your Child’s First Real Basketball Experience

There is a difference between handing a kid a basketball and giving them a real league experience. Little Ballers at FCP Sports is built for kindergarten through 2nd graders who are ready for their first taste of organized basketball – real teams, real games, real refs, and real fun.

This is not a chaotic rec center program where 15 kids chase the ball around a shared gym. Little Ballers runs in our dedicated basketball facility in Fort Walton Beach with age-appropriate rules, trained referees, and coaches who understand how to work with young players. We keep score. We have standings. But the emphasis is on fundamentals, teamwork, and making sure every child walks off the court wanting to come back next week.

Families from Fort Walton Beach, Destin, Niceville, Navarre, and Crestview bring their kids to Little Ballers. Military families stationed at Eglin AFB and Hurlburt Field receive a discount on registration.

What Makes Little Ballers Different

Modified rules that make sense for young players. Eight-foot baskets so kids can actually make shots. Smaller basketballs that fit their hands. No full-court pressing. Shorter game periods. These are not arbitrary changes – they are intentional design decisions that make the game fun and developmentally appropriate.

Coaches on the court. During Little Ballers games, coaches are allowed on the floor to guide players through positioning, passing, and basic plays. This is a teaching league first.

Every child plays. There is no bench-warming in Little Ballers. Playing time is distributed so every child gets meaningful minutes in every game.

Real game atmosphere. Scoreboard, PA system, and referees. Your child will feel like they are playing in a real game – because they are. The difference is that the environment is built for their age and ability level.

Post-game coaching. After each game, players get a short coaching session that reinforces what they practiced that day. This helps connect game experience to skill development.

Little Ballers is designed to be the beginning. Every child who plays here gets a positive first experience with organized basketball – and most of them come back for more. After Little Ballers, the natural next step is the Junior Division (3rd-5th grade) in our fall or summer leagues. Between seasons, our basketball camps and training programs keep the development going.
